Landfill Leachate Remediation Project - Armstrong, BC

Foreword

As Chairman of the first ground water protection team formed in the North Okanagan/Thompson area, I learned about water quality and needs.  I learned of pollution problems and of a landfill leachate problem at the very old landfill site in Armstrong BC (see definition and analysis).  I learned pro-active water protection/management in this area, now after 10 years is on-going.  My knowledge of forestry made this project a natural fit.  The Regional District supported my idea and a new company, Passive Remediation Systems Ltd., was born in 2004.  Trees were planted in the spring of 05.
