Classification  2012 – Present

Active Water Reclamation – Municipal Effluent – Phytoremediation System

Objective

  • Keep the Municipal Effluent out of the food chain
  • Generate Environmental Benefits

Initiative

A Phytoremediation plantation adjoins a municipal effluent facility. This is a  documented carbon mitigation system or carbon sink to align with new BC legislation toward clean air and water. The irrigation source is not appropriate for growing food but is great for growing trees and yields double environmental benefits. The trees are aligned to allow future easy access for specialized heavy machinery spreaders.

PRSI is utilizes a state of the art Sustainability Performance Management tool to quantify, track and report its project activities based on the ISO 14064-1 GHG inventory standard. The ISO 14064 standard is part of the ISO 14000 series of International Standards for environmental management.
